PINECONE PICKING
In order to combat the Pine Beetle in western Canada, The forestry is taking measures to combat it by cutting down the older trees which attract them. We come along after they have recently logged an area and collect cones from the fallen trees and the ground
Recently i have had the priveledge of choosing my own crews. Ron, Shane, Jeremy and Nam are a part of a ministy in Los Angeles called `Finishing the Work.` Pinecone picking provides them the opportunity to temporarily leave their jobs, and do ministry full time.
PICKING
Most of the time, cones are on the branches, but some cut blocks have alot of ground picking. this is a nice exampleof some good ground picking.
At Higher elevations the cones are larger and tend to be `plastered`all over the branches
PERKS OF THE JOB
As well as the scenery, excersice and fresh air, we enjoy being able to get water from mountian streams.
