2nd Beast

• The topic of what Revelation describes as "Another Beast" is very interesting as this is the actual entity that will carry out the notorious mark of the beast. There are 3 sub-entities of this beast.

1. The Beast itself
2. The Image to the beast
3. The Mark of the beast

The problem with this section of Rev 13 is the same as the first section. Everyone has a different idea of what these entities are. Freemasons, Aliens, an antichrist, the monitary system, 13 families in Europe, the Illuminati, the Catholic church, the Jews, the American Government, corporate america, and so on.

In my personal studies i had concluded that this 2nd beast was the antichrist, while the image was Mary and the mark was a finacial tool needed to buy or sell. The Church I attend teaches that the beast is America, the image is american protestantism and the mark is the enforcement of false Sunday worship.

Now what is ironic is that when you begin to fully understand the larger picture it brings you to more of a conclusion that all these entities are not really different. Infact they are all working together in treacherous harmony. What I discovered was that the end result of my view was no different than that of the church I attended. If this sounds puzzling to you, please read on and see how everything fits.

• We will first start by looking at the passage describing the 2nd beast, then doing an indepth compairison of all the other prophetic passages describing this same 2nd Beast.

• "The 2nd Beast"

Rev 13:11. Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon.
12. And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13. He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.
14. And he deceives those who dwell on the earth—by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived.
15. He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.
16. He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,
17. and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18. Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.

- Now how can we link the "mouth" and the 2nd beast as the same entity?

Q: When does the 2nd beast exhist?
A: In the presence of the first beast, or at the same time.

Q: What is it that gives the first beast its "authority"?
A: "a mouth"

Q: What does the 2nd beast do?
A: "causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast,"
___________

Q: What is the "mouth" granted to do to the saints?
A: "make war with them and overcome them"

Q: What does the "He" or the second beast do?
A: "cause as many as do not worship the image of the beast to be killed."
___________

Q: Who does the mouth of the first beast deceive into worshipping him?
A: "All who dwell on the earth will worship him"

Q: Who does the 2nd beast deceive?
A: "those who dwell on earth"

Conclusion: the second beast is merely a more indepth description of the mouth that was given to the first beast.

• "A Mouth" (given to the 1st Beast)

- Now lets look at the passage describing the "Mouth" given to the 7 headed 10 horned beast..

Rev 13:4. And they worshiped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
5. And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months.
6. Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven.
7. It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.
8. All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

- Notice the important aspects of this mouth. He speaks blasphemies and persecutes the saints.

• "False Christs and False Prophets"

- These are the deceivers warned about in the Gospel prophecies. False Christs and prophets who arise to show great signs to deceive. You will notice The difference in the gospels' description is that the wording seems to indicate multiple christs and prophets, where as in the other sections of prophecy, they are described as one false prophet, who acts as a fasle christ, or antichrist.

- However again you will notice that they work wonders to deceive, just as the 2nd beast does.

Mat 24
23. "Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'There!' do not believe it.
24. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
25. See, I have told you beforehand.

21. "Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'Look, He is there!' do not believe it.
22. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
23. But take heed; see, I have told you all things beforehand.

Now this next verse is extremely signficant for 3 reasons:
1. The exact same wording is used as the gospels
2. The Prophet is described as singlular
3. The meantioning of "in his presence" and the "mark" and the "image of the beast" link the false prophet(s) and christs, the mouth, and the second beast as the same!

Rev 19

20. Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.
21. And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh.

• This leaves us with an interesting question: which is it, single or plural?
- If the answer is single, it points to one particular false prophet who works these signs.
- If the answre is plural, it points to many false religious leaders drawing Christians aswell as the whole world to worship the beast.
- The answer could also be both. A false prophet accompanied with an army of false religious teachers. This is most likely when looking at the next verse. "the mystery of the lawless one is already at work" could indicate that his disciples had already begun their work during the disciples' ministry.

This would also be supported by the common belief that because some of the gospel prophecies were fulfilled by 70 A.D, yet verses prior to these indicate a future fulfillement aswell, that they must have a double application. A small scale fulfillement in the 1st century, and a grand global scale fulfillement at the end of time. This would mean that false christs and prophets were already arisinng during the time of the apostles.

• Man of Sin / Lawless One

2Thes 2:3. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4. Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
5. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6. And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.
8. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.
9. The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,
10. and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie,
12. that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

A couple intersting things to note from this passage.

Q: is the lawless one or man of sin satan?
A: surprisingly no.
- The reason is that according to this passage, the lawless one will be destroyed with the" brightness of His coming," while Revelation 20 states:

2. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
3. And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

According to Rev 19:20 the beast and the false prophet are cast into the lake of fire when Jesus returns while Satan does not end up there till 1000 years later after the 2nd resurection..

Rev 20:10. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever

- Also notice that "The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan" and not Satan himself, just as the "dragon gave" power to the "mouth," and just as the 2nd beast had to be "granted" power in order to work wonders and give breath to the image of the beast.

• Conclusion: all these references are talking about the same being or beings that have been empowered by satan to perform signs and wonders to deceive the whole world and bring persecution upon the saints.
